UU-ism is right close to what your Aldeism (though it doesn't actually require that you buy into monotheism :)

My crypto-pagan, deistic, formationally jewish and catholic personal beliefs system doesn't fit well in any existing church I've identified, except UU-ism. And it accomodates Lori's largely-methodist beliefs. And they have "sunday school" for the kids that reinforces and helps cultivate the base principles of UU.

And there are UU churches available all around. I've never seen an Aldeist congregation...

I guess my general sentiment is that once any belief system becomes so organized that its called a religion I tend to run away from it screaming. :)

Hmmm, have you ever read His Dark Materials by Philip Pulman?

He seems to feel similarly about religion...

Its actually a triligy released in the US as The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass. Considered to be childrens books, but there is still alot of stuff there for adults to enjoy.
