I'm back. Not in the sense that you'll see tons of posts from me in my own journal as I have already been doing some posting. But I'm back reading other journals and responding in them. Part of the interesting part of Livejournal to me is the "live" part: the part where you actually interact with other people via comments and get a small glimpse into their psyche. I've barely been posting in my own journal and I haven't really posted in anyone else's journal other than a smattering here and there.

So I've been playing catchup. I apparenlty have about a dozen or so new subscribers that I only noticed in passing (but did manage to mutuall friend a few that I recognized). I few journals have come back or gone. Lives have changed dramatically as seems to be the nature of those on Livejournal. And amongst it all, there seems to be a sense of comaraderie that still intrigues me.

I'll do a proper update soon. Some changes at work and in my personal life deserve documenting. I've posted most of it in private but there are some things still left to say for the public at large. When I find the right words, I'll do it. As with all writing, it comes when it is ready despite the best efforts of the person that thinks they are doing the writing. :-)

In any event, its good to be interacting again.

Nope. I'm still training the last of the new sysadmin hires and with it being the holidays as well I doubt I can get anywhere soon. I've got a few irons in the fire that are sucking down all my cash at the moment but I'm hoping to have some money available for travelling at the beginning of the year (either January or February). I plan to take some time and visit both you and cosmicironymag. And maybe a few others while I'm on that coast.

Do you think that if I showed up on Jan 12 at margarita_fri, (a) I'd get to see you, (b) the rest of them would throw me out, or (c) we'd get smoked out? (jenkitty and cflute are pretty smoke-sensitive)

Answers in order:

a) I can probably be persuaded :-) I don't make MFs that much these days due to the long drive but I try to get out there every two months or so to catch up on with that crowd. Good peeps for the most part.

b) Unlikely. the only folks that had any intense dislike for you tended to be members of the ICB crowd which doesn't really overlap with the Margarita Friday crowd very much. Not to say that you can't find new reasons for folks to toss you out on your ear. But I suspect that you've learned to talk to a women's face rather than her chest :-)

c) I seem to recall that Atlanta is completely non-smoking in all restaurants now (excluding pure bars) but I can't recall if Smyrna has the same rule. I'll have to check for you.

I saw that you called but I've been too swamped (with paid work, fortunately) to sit down and talk with anyone.

I recently put the boyfiend to good use; he added a gig of ram, upgraded my processor to a 2.08 GHz Athlon XP 2800+, and got the partition problemw with the 120G hard drive worked out. My computer just SMOKES now. Well. By my standards, it smokes.
