Job hunt update
Apr. 27th, 2005 05:10 pmThe folks at Emory want to offer me a six month position as a full time Systems Analyst specializing in working on their new cluster (the one that I helped setup and am still working on). Its six months so that they won't have to commit to a permanent position when they still aren't certain as to how they want their cluster environment to grow and what it'll be come. Part of the duties will involve also being the backup UNIX admin and handling UNIX admin duties that involve programming. Oh yeah, and most of hte UNIX is actually Linux so that'll be fun as well. They are also willing to work with me on my schedule if I choose to finish out the summer at Clayton since I kinda told them I would be there already. Even though I don't have a contract of any sort *sigh*
Low end of the salary is $59K so that ain't bad at all. And they understand I'm not working on the Phd anymore so they ain't looking for one.
I also got unofficial confirmationt that I have should be expecting a phone interview with Interland so that is another option.
No word back on the Portugal gig. But I thought it sounded too good to be true. We'll see.
I just wish some of my good luck would rub off on many of you that I know. Job hunting sucks.
Oh yeah, I need to figure out if I'm going to stay in the apartment or move. I need to make up my mind by the end of the month.
