Home Networking

so in the process of finishing my basement, I ran CAT5E and RG-6(cable TV) networking to both bedrooms upstairs, the living room and to the downstairs bedroom. All that cable goes to the area under my stairs to a central hub. All I need to do now is to terminate the endings of those cables so and plug in a switch and I'll be good to go.

Since I wanted things to have that slick finished lick, I used the wall panels that allow you to have flushed plugs. That means that I need a punch down tool to put the ends on to the cables for the female terminators.

Anyone got a tool like that lying around? I don't plan to do this again so I don't really want to invest in one for just one job.

Can't to it tonight. Maybe tomorrow.

If you're talking about the something that puts those phone-plug looking ends on, we have one of those. If we're any closer to you than the commenter above.

No, I have one of those. That attaches the cable to a male end. I need a tool for attaching the cable to a female end.

But thanks!

I don't have the tool, or live nearby, but I did want to mention that between "slick finished lick," and "female terminators," I'm kind of turned on...

I've got a punch down tool. If you can't find one before next time we cross paths I can loan it to you.
