Feeling Healthier though not Better

I seem to be over the worst of whatever I had caught that made me sick. I've been basically at home in my apartment since Firday night. I did go to work Thursday hwoever. But I didn't go until I was only intermittently coughing up "lung butter" only once very 4 hours. not a pretty visual but very description :-)
Work was work. I'm not doing as much as before now that we have the two other sysadmins but I'm still involved. Both of them have been under the weather the last few weeks so I've been helping out. However, the time when they won't need me to help them out is right around the corner. They are both quite competent and that is very relieving. It also makes it much easier to look seriously for other employement. Nothing firm yet but I have a feeling I might get an offer in the next week or so. I'll just keep my fingers crossed.
I did something very stupid to someone that means the world to me. I apologized and it was accepted but I still feel quite awful. Unfortunately, despite the apology, the damage has been done and I'm afraid that there a positive path back that I can see. You would think I would eventually learn from some of my past mistakes in this area. *sigh*
I have realized that I have three weddings to attend this year, one of which I am currently scheduled to be a member of the bridal party. While looking at my finances, I'm not quite sure how I'm going to be able to attend all these weddings. Even without the house purchase, that many trips starts to add up quite quickly: airfare and hotel stays can easily be $500 a trip. And if I drive up, I will have to burn vacation time to do it to be able to safely drive those distances as none of them in Atlanta. Despite the number of times its explained to me, I still find it bizarre that folks go home to their parent's home towns to get married when they live in other towns and all their friends do too. This is probably going to occur for all three weddings which is probably more bizarre. Oh well, the price of friendship can be high :-)
I've got a traffic court appointment Friday afternoon. I got a ticket for having an expired tag and an expired license. With all the crap at work, I had simply forgotten to get them renewed by the end of November (my birthdya was Nov. 22nd). I got ticketed on Dec. 2nd. Joy. Total cost of the fines is just shy of $400. *sigh* All my fault. But it still sucks. I'm strongly considering pleading "not guilty" but somehow I think that isn't going to get the judge to show me any leiniency. I really don't need to giving up $400 in fines when I'm considering purchasing a house. :-)
House hunting is going quite well. Found three really good possibilities. one of this practically screams to have a party: a 20x20 foot sun room with built in benchs and a 6 foot bar in one corner :-) Unfortunately that house has a really ancient electrical box and wiring (i.e. no ground wires, just 2 prong outlets everywhere) so its not really on the list. The other two are quite nice and very spacious and *almost* affordable. I need to spend some more time with the mortgage agent and see what I can finagle.
That's all for now. I've been trying to keep up with all your folks and your journals but being sick kinda put me behind. Don't worry, I'll catch up as time permits.

Date: 2007-01-19 11:50 am (UTC)"I'm sorry, your honor, I was so busy at work I'd forgotten they needed renewing, I took care of it right away. Look, here they are."
Should work. They were only ten days expired.
Oooooo! U N trouble!
Date: 2007-01-19 04:52 pm (UTC)The fine was given in the hopes that you would actually pay the $400. You know it was around the time of month when quotas needed to be made and it was during the holiday season.
My co-worker got a ticket for an expired tag and she only paid 65 dollars.
Now, your expired license is a different story. You should have known better. You may get charged for that.
One last thing... if you plead "not guilty" they are going to reschedule you for a new court date to have a hearing. At which time and point you will be charged for court costs and the fine if you are found guilty. Possibly jailed if you don't have the money on hand.
They do accept cash, MC and Visa. NO CHECKS!

Date: 2007-01-19 05:14 pm (UTC)Regarding the party house - I wouldn't let the old wiring hold you back. You'd get the chance to put in a 200 amp circuit, which would power lots of goodies. And if you have to pull new wires, you can also pull cat 6 or phone wire to any of the rooms while you're at it, and put in a patch panel.
If the market's soft enough, figure out your budget and subtract off the rewiring and make an offer. Who knows?

Date: 2007-01-19 05:36 pm (UTC)Get yourself some dried horehound leaves from a health food store. 1 tsp per cup, and no more than 3 cups per day. It's an inexpensive folk remedy which will help dry out that mucous in your lungs.
I used to harvest this fresh and dry it myself, but I haven't really found any clean wilderness areas out here in LA near where I live.
The taste is not for the squeamish. If your nose isn't as stuffed up as your lungs are clogged with butter, well.. let's just say that adding honey to the tea isn't going to help cover the taste.
