I started writing this at the end of December of 2005 in the aftermath of the
loss of one of my life mentors, Pete Jensen. I've been home sick a few days
and I found myself editing this and finally finishing it. I'm posting it in
my journal as I am want to do for the sake of posterity. Its my
journal after all.

This is a long roundabout story so I will fully understand if you don't bother
to read it. This is here first and foremost for me. Because it is important
for me to leave a tangible and written version of my memories. Writting has
always helped me collect my thoughts. That is what a journal is for anyway.
I've got dozens of things like this in my journal. Most of it is private and
For My Eyes Only. However, it being the season for giving, I feel like sharing
for those that feel like partaking.

There is a statement near the end concerning my PhD that might shock a few of you. I wouldn't put to much stock in it if I wereyou.

Hang On! That first step is a doozie!

Thank you for sharing this... I dont know you ... I wouldnt even term myself an aquaintance as I dont really consider two brief dcon meetings an aquaintance heck I would be suprised if you even remember me LMAO. This post however... deeply touched me on so many levels. Firstly it was really awsome to get to know you a bit thru your eyes and even if you consider it a shadow of the people who largely affected your life. Secondly it gave me pause for thought about the people who have shaped me (all whom I consider greatly important to me) Sometimes there have been people who are only in my life briefly but have profound effect. It has however given me a moment of joy and gratefulness to remember them as they contributed to who I have become as I am today.

So thank you for sharing.

During this time of year, I always get a yearning to know more about the people that intersect my life. I though that others might have the same feeling.

In any event, you are more than welcome.

Oh yeah, and I do remember you :-)
