Date: 2006-05-29 01:26 am (UTC)The inclusion of 'defense' along with 'crime' is telling; clearly this meme has been constructed by someone who buys into the Republicon strata of politics. That is to say, someone who believes in layers of morality, where as one approaches topics in the layers that lie close to the self, one is permitted to be less civilized. War, no matter what the spinners will tell you, is a tool of statecraft, not structured mass murder. Like it or no, so long as you have governments and armies, you will have war. (My personal opinion is that if doing away with governments means doing away with war, then bye bye white house, but that's just me)
Anyway, the current Republicon marketing scheme has been very successful in convincing people that there are 'conservative' issues, and 'liberal' issues. That is to say, if you have a certain opinion, you are a member of a certain viewpoint group. A more accurate depiction is that any issue can have a conservative and a liberal approach, and keeping track of how many liberal or conservative reactions an individual has is like coutning the number of scenes in a movie that take place during the day or night. Yes, if the majority of the movie takes place during the day, you can call it a 'Day' movie, but what the hell does that mean?
Precious fucking little.
You're an individual V. Do not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered. Your mind is your own.
