on the nature of learning from other's examples

Learn from other's mistakes. You don't have time to make them all yourself."

This is somethign I firmly believe in yet don't actually do that often. I am going to write this off due to my extremely large and boisterous ego but nevertheless its a very bad thing.

I honestly don't seem to learn too much about myself from other's lives. The nature of livejournal is that many folks post about there lives. Sometimes other comment there and their insight helps you. Sometimes the insight of your post will catch someone else's life and help them. Its one of the good things about livejournal. It allows us to affect each other's lives in unpredictable and hopefully positive ways.

And I'm missing out on half of this. Either folks don't have the same problems as I do or I'm oblivous to the ones that do. The ones that have problems that I see are always the things that I have already conquered or ones that I will never have to deal with. Best I can do is offer what meager advice I have and hope that it helps them or at worse, does no harm.

I think I'm missing out. Yet somehow I don't feel I am.

Strange.

So, it's like a near-missing out, basically.

I think I know the feeling.

You probably don't get much from my rambles either, but your words have always managed to help me in some way or another, whether it's your wisdom making me think or your kind words bringing a smile. I love that quote, and it's damn true. :)

A lot of times, I don't talk about my problems on here. I don't have that many anymore, but when I used to, I got bitched at for whining. I know it's my journal and all, but if I want to vent without getting bitched at, it's best to do it elsewhere.

Well. If you can't be a good example, you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

The strange thing about problems is that even if the scenario is roughly the same individuals react to problems differently; one person's problem is another's wish. And yes you do help when you can. I know you've helped me. And sometiems given me the overwhelming urge to smack ya!
