I've been a Deist, though I've never heard it called ALdeist befor. The site is very small. I haven't gone through the links yet, but hopefully one will explain the history of the faith/religion/philosophy. It's very interesting, and alot of the Founding Fathers were influanced by it's ideas, if not being outright Deist themselves.
My crypto-pagan, deistic, formationally jewish and catholic personal beliefs system doesn't fit well in any existing church I've identified, except UU-ism. And it accomodates Lori's largely-methodist beliefs. And they have "sunday school" for the kids that reinforces and helps cultivate the base principles of UU.
And there are UU churches available all around. I've never seen an Aldeist congregation...
From the Christian point of view I always thought that Deism and (now Aldeism) is more of an attempt to replace faith with logic.
Which to me is like trying to replace an apple with an orange. If all you want is a fruit, you are fine. If you want to grow an apple tree then you are in for a world of hurt :)
Its actually a triligy released in the US as The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass. Considered to be childrens books, but there is still alot of stuff there for adults to enjoy.

Now I'm just an independent. I prefer not to use any of the existing labels anymore. I usually list myself as areligious.
