alive

Barely.

I've been going through some trials as of late. The new job is going great. I'm just a bit off center due to the some personal issues I'd rather not go into right now. I know what I have to do but I never thought it would be so hard.

I'll be writing more. I have to. Writing is one of the few things that I used to do that eased my mind. My main writing outlet was my D&D campaign. I used to write about 10 pages a week of back story, notes and statistics to make the game go easier. We played once a month. As of late, we are lucky to play once ever 10 weeks. And thus my writing outlet has been limited.

I think writing serves as my creative outlet and that serves as a pressure release on everything else in my life. With all the extra stress, no pressure release means that I've been in danger of a massive explosion that would do Bad Things.

We'll see if we can fix that.

Sorry to hear about the trials, but I deeply empathize with the campaign-writing-as-therapy. That's probably one of the (many) reasons the game has stayed such a central part of my life for the past 20+ years.

Have you considered expanding the creative campaign-writing to fill the void that the less-frequent game has left? You could write the plots and adventures of the game's past that you never got to play, or expound on nooks and crannies of the game world that you haven't had a reason to flesh out. Wouldn't be the same as game-preparation, but might give you an excuse to write more while playing less.

Also, you're more than welcome to come to our annual Atlanta gamer-friend gathering if your life could use some more game in it :) Karen says you are A+ quality personage, and that's a sparkling reference form a curmudgeony sort like her!

I think its been more of a general "don't want to get in front of a computer" thing. I recently bought a few moleskin journals hoping that would spark the creative streak again and it has worked a bit. But pen and paper is a bit slow when you have been typing for most of your life.

We'll see.

Amazing how much more time you have now that you aren't in Law school anymore :-)

We'd like to get an IRC or similiar gaming group together. Want to volunteer to be GM? I need to look at the RPG tools in Synaptic Package Manager.

I gave up on GMing games over the Internet a long time ago. Just too much of the ambiance is lost when you can't really see the people. :(

You have a lot of people who love you, including me. I hope that helps!

Yes, I'm quite aware. and it does make it easier. But you know better than others that our own personal demons are quite persistent and strong.
