Damn! Damn! Damn!
Mar. 12th, 2007 09:44 amSo I did some more house hunting on Saturday morning. Saw a lot of great houses, several of which would easily fit my needs. But the really good news is that one of the original 4 houses that I had looked at a few months ago was still on the market. AND it had dropped price by about $10,000. So I was having the real estate agent dig up a discovery on the property and I was going to do my own digging with various Internet sites that I have been investigatin. And what happen?
On the way back from work on Saturday afternoon, my transmission goes out. completely. I’m donig 45 miles an hour and I go to shift gears and there is a strange thunk sound. And then my car wouldn’t shift gears anymore. It was in neutral because I was between gears and it wouldn’t go into any other gear. So I coast off to the side of the road. Call A-Tow. Wait 45 minutes and have it towed to my mechanic over near the intersection of Shallowford Road and Chamblee-Tucker Road. My mechanic owns Peach Auto Service and is named Lam Nguyen. Great guy. Straight shooter which I like. He stayed open an extra hour until the towing service could get the vehicle to the shop. We pushed it inside and he said that he would take a look at it.
Soooo, assuming that its the transmission, I’m looking at probably a couple grand of parts and labor to get it up and running again. and that was the money that I was probably going to use for earnest money and to break the least on the apartment that I’m in. So now I’m going to be doing my tax return to see if I’m getting back more money than I thought originally. I shouldn’t be getting *any* money back but now I’m hoping. :-)
Some Mondays starts on Saturday :-(
