Thanks for reposting this in public - I didn't realize Pete had died. He taught my ICS 1000 class when he was the acting dean, and I remember him correcting me with a smile when I called him "Dr. Jensen".
I think the field is poorer now that we're losing the pioneers who came along before "computer science" but were still scientists and engineers. Then again, my second officemate post-college had a PhD in invertebrate zoology and was the first webmaster at that site, so there may be hope yet...
