The Great Job Hunt

So I'm looking for a full time job to replace the instructor position that I've got at Clayton College right now. A get a phone call from a head hunter that saw my resume on Monster or Dice or somesuch. The company he represents (Siemens) wants to send an acadmic type with some industry experience to Portugal to teach various object oriented technologies to the local companies there that are working with Siemens. Its a 2 year gig though. But the pay is being negotiated at $80/hour. That's about $160K a year. And they also pay your room and board while you are there. Not sure if its contract work or if its a salary kind of thing. But either way its kinda nice.

not sure if I'll take if finally offered but I'm defnitely interested in it so far. I'm not comfortrable with being away from my family and [livejournal.com profile] zorathenne. And of course, I have my baby girl Lieutenant to think about as well. Dont' know how they feel about animals going overseas. I'm sure she would have to have a ton of shots.

In any event, its amusing if nothing else. In the mean while, Emory is persuing a full time position for me in helping them plan and implement their supercomputing cluster strategy. I'm hoping that works out as I get to stay int he states and do High Performance Computing stuff with Linux which just makes me tingle in all the right places. Howeveer, its not going to pay nearly as well. But it also keeps me in the states which is kinda high on my priority list as well.

*sigh* decisions decisions.

Wow, that would be so interesting to go overseas. Could you come back and visit often?

Sounds like a great opportunity. Also, animals over seas can depend on the country and time stayed a lot. If you can 'chip' the animal and then get its shots and such, they often will just let it go little hassle. Some places have a several month quarantee though :/

I asked about that and the headhunter is checking into it. He is sure that I can come back and visit. The only quesiton is who foots the bill and how often.

heh. I suspect that Portugal is close enough to Italy for us to call it a "trip home" :-)
